Summary from the radio interview -
80% chronic illness can be prevented by eating a plant based diet.

Life jacket and guardian of our blood vessels is the endothelium which manufactures nitric oxide – the great protector of our blood vessels (simply, it keeps things from getting sticky).

Cardio vascular disease is caused by damaging the capacity of the endothelium.

The disease is now ubiquitous in the Western world, especially the United States.

Things that damage that fine lining - any oil, anything with a face, dairy, sugary drinks (plus honey, stevia etc.).

In the U.S. we have a billion dollar health industry around an illness that doesn’t exist in half the world. Okinawa in Japan has zero heart disease.

What can you do to prevent it? Pick things up from the supermarket that don’t have a label – whole, plant based foods.

Esselstyn doesn’t advocate a vegan or vegetarian diet – he recommends a whole, plant based diet. (Vegans can eat French fries and donuts etc.) ((Mmmm- JE)

Recommended daily eating plan:

Rolled oats with banana, raisin, cranberries, blueberries with oat milk or unsweetened almond milk.

Sandwich – whole wheat bread with houmous (no tahini or olive oil) with shredded spinach or rocket, zucchini
Soup with beans and onions

Beans and rice with tomatoes, peppers, peas, corn, water chestnuts and salsa.

Green leafy vegetables are KEY. (so this links up with the cansurviving way of drinking a green juice every day...)

What would you do differently: Inform children/schools sooner about the power of plant based foods.

that need never exist and if it does exist, needs not progress. This is a benign food borne illness."
