The Poetry Challenge was set up by Nicholas Albery in October 1995 as an annual charity fundraising event. (To raise money for the NDC and to publicise the PftD book). Nicholas held it five times before he died in a car accident at the age of 52 in June 2001.

Historically The Poetry Challenge has been linked with the Natural Death Centre who is the beneficiary of the Poem for The Days books One and Two royalties, Nicholas is editor of.

We want to encourage people everywhere to fundraise for their favourite charity in this wonderful and creative way and to inspire schools to host Poetry Challenges. The Poetry Challenge is a great idea for hospices and hospitals like Great Ormond Street to raise money and a good alternative or addition to the more traditional marathon runs or coffee mornings! Look up the website for more info: http://www.thepoetrychallenge.org.uk

I am holding a Poetry Challenge 2016 at my house on Sunday 2 October, 2 - 5pm, going on for longer, if people are willing to stay longer. You are welcome to join us!
We will provide teas, coffee and juice.
Bring food to share (cake or whatever is ready to eat as part of afternoon tea).

Admission by £5 donation.
We will have certificates for everyone who recites, signed by Nicholas's poet friend Heathcote Williams, and by Claudia Boulton our compere.
It will be a relaxed and informal afternoon.

Please let me know you want to come and whether you want to recite, so we have an idea of numbers. Places are limited.
