Equine Assisted Therapy

Postby Josefine » Sun Aug 28, 2016 11:18 pm

This is a form of therapy where the horse is the therapist and the therapist holds the space, as it were. Here are some delightful, moving and inspiring examples from Pam Billinge's blog about her work. I would recommend that you try this, if you are a patient and physically well enough. I also recommend it to care givers and family members. And I think it is very healing for the recently bereaved. See what you make of it?

Pam Billinge is founding director of Equest and a Chiron trained psychotherapist. I first met Pam four years ago at an introductory workshop with her horses. Pam trained in Colorado to become an Equine Assisted Therapist. She is part of a leadership training of the London Business School. I spent the afternoon with her and her horses last Wednesday, in a field near Pewsey for a 2.5 hour individual session. Pewsey is in Wiltshire, just over an hour on the train from Paddington.
No horse experience is necessary. The work is very gentle and it all about awareness, emotion and openness.
