has so many buzzy nutrients, it's hard to keep them straight: phenolic acids, flavonols, pthalides. But, what do these actually do? (It's pretty awesome.) Phytonutrients, like flavonols and phenolic acids, decrease the risk of free radical damage and prevent inflammation. Pthalides lower blood pressure by helping the muscles around your blood vessels relax. Who knew?

have a pretty fierce antioxidant profile as well. Fresh cucumber aids in the never-ending effort to seek and destroy free radicals, and has serious anti-cancer benefits. Phytonutrients called cucurbitacins have been shown to block cancer cell development, while lignans are associated with a reduced risk of estrogen-related cancers.

I juice most days with both of these wonderful veggies...
